Who I am
Hello, My name is Rachel Banks, and I am a generational Caregiver. My journey started with my mother, who lived with me the last 15 years of her life, due to her suffering from Alzheimer's, congestive heart failure & Parkinson's Disease. She gained her wings in the comfort of her bed in my home, 1/09/2022, at the beautiful age of 91, with me by her side. but before her passing, I had to take in my adult son, Kevin, due to mental health issues. Kevin is in her late 30s. My son suffers from schizophrenia, Schizophrenia affective disorder, early onset Alzhimer's & Traumatic Brain injury (TBI). So at one point in my life, I had 2 people living with me who suffered from physical & mental disabilities while I was working a 40-hour-a-week job. And yes, it was not easy, so now my mission is to take the shame out of mental health & help families find resources. I turned pain into a purpose.
